Principal's Message

Campus Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Can you hear the sound of birds chirping?  Do you see all of the green that is popping up all around us?  Probably not just yet, but I imagine that you are beginning to see or at least envision the new building as it enters the final phase of construction.  I toured some of the parts of the new Ellet CLC, and I can tell you that the building is going to help provide wonderful experiences and educational opportunities for our students.  The move will occur mid-July, and we will be ready to open for business in August.  While that is exciting, we still have two months of school left for students.

It is around this time that students begin to think about all of the summer fun that awaits them and less about the school work that has yet to be completed. I will continue to remind students that eligibility is determined by a student’s GPA, attendance and meeting the required number of classes passed each quarter.  What students earn in the fourth quarter determines their eligibility status for the fall of the 2019/2020 school year. Also, ending the year with solid grades helps students create a pattern for the next school year.

Students will be active this spring completing work for the fourth marking period and completing the required testing for grades 9-11.  The Ohio State Testing (OST) begins April 9 and will conclude May 2, 2019.  The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will be on April 16 at 7:00 p.m.  The final interim report will be sent home with students on April 18.    The fourth marking period is a busy time for all students.  Of course the highlight of the year will be graduation night on May 24 at the Akron Civic Theatre.  So much to do and so little time.
