More than 40 Akron Public Schools students from seven high schools participated in the Mayor' s Youth Leadership Council (MYLC) Orientation on Friday, January 17. The event was held at the main branch of the Akron Summit County Public Library.
The Mayor's Youth Leadership Council is a youth, civic leadership initiative designed to educate students about their government, community organizations and student-led projects. Students participate in leadership training and activities that prepare them to advocate on youth issues and become active problem solvers and champions for change with a voice in decision making.
APS Career Advising Manager Dreama Whitfield tells us MYLC students meet twice a month in various locations throughout the city.
