ELLET NEWS 

Updates: 

No School ~ March 3rd 

Yondr Cell Phone Bags 

• The Akron Board of Education has approved the use of Yondr cell phone bags to be implemented in high schools.    Ellet CLC will pilot the cell  phone bags. 

• The cell phone pouches create a phone free space for our students during the school day.   The purpose of the pouch is to increase academic engagement as well as decrease inappropriate use of cell phones. 

• Each student will be assigned a cell phone pouch to keep with them at all times.   Students will insert their cell phone into the pouch when they arrive at school and lock it for the day.  They will unlock their phones before leaving at the end of the school day.   Students who participate in after school activities will have access to their phone. 

• Ellet CLC will collaborate with our nurse for any student who utilizes an app on their cell phone for medical needs. 

• More details will be coming in the next few days before we begin implementation.   We understand that this adjustment will be challenging for some students and we appreciate your support in advance. 

Goodyear STEM Career Day 

• STEM Career Day is at the University of Akron on March 11 

• Interested students can register at https://stemcareerday.goodyear.com/. 

• Registration closes on 2/27/23 

• Goodyear STEM career consent 

ACT 

• Juniors will take the ACT on 2/28/23 

• Junior Parent/Student ACT Letter 2023 

Washington DC 

• Students who need medication while on the DC trip need to drop it off at Ellet before 10:00 AM on March 3rd. 

• Students who are attending DC need to be dropped of at 5:45 AM on March 6th 

OST 

• State testing for 10th grade English classes will begin on March 28th and end on March 31st. 

Seniors (Class of 2023)

• A senior meeting was held with students on 2/24/23 and detailed information was shared with spring activities

Future Dates: 

March 3, 2023 (Instructional Improvement Day; no school for students)

March 6th-8th.  Washington DC trip for some 11th grade students 

April 7, 2023 (Good Friday; schools and offices closed)

April 10-14, 2023 (Spring Break; no school for students)

May 26, 2023 (Last Day for Students in Grade 12)

May 29, 2023 (Memorial Day; schools and offices closed)

June 1, 2023 (Last Day for Students)
